WEST DES MOINES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Veterans Day News Release

West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 16. 

All members of the community and local VFW organizations are invited to attend a joint service of honoring  our veterans on Monday morning, November 11th  in West Des Moines.

 

The opening ceremony, “Remembering Our Veterans,” will begin at 9 a.m. and will be held at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801-19th Street. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.

 

“Honoring our veterans on Veterans Day is a privilege,” says Mark Kacer General Manager of McLarens’s Resthaven Chapel.  “Veterans Day is a time for reflection on fallen heroes, a time to show respect for those on active duty and a time to acknowledge our senior veterans because all have made great sacrifices.”

The Veterans Day Service of Remembrance will include:

  • The presentation of colors by the American Legion Hispanic Post #731,

    West Des Moines V.F.W. #8879 and Boy Scouts Troop #280

  • A benediction by Tim Byrnes
  • Music by Valley Singers
  • Fairmeadows School 5th grade “Veterans Day” SA winners
