West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.

Texas Roadhouse will open a new location in West Des Moines next summer.

During a recent development and planning meeting in West Des Moines, city officials were notified on its agenda that the popular steakhouse with close to 600 locations across the globe and in 49 states will be located at 6378 Mills Civic Parkway.

Texas Roadhouse offers an extensive menu of appetizers, salads, steaks, seafood, barbecue, entrees, hamburgers, sandwiches and more.

The existing Fuddruckers building will be demolished and the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant will be constructed in its place.

According to the Des Moines Business Record, a company spokesperson told the City of Wes Des Moines that the 7,100-square-foot restaurant's construction is scheduled to begin in February with a goal of completion by June. The project will cost $5.2 million.

The lot covers 1.2 acres and was sold to Woodsonia Real Estate Inc. of Omaha in July, according to land transaction records from Dallas County.

Texas Roadhouse opened its original location in Indiana in 1993. The company is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.

Texas Roadhouse has a long-standing location in the Des Moines metro at 8744 Northpark Drive in Urbandale. The company has eight other locations in the state, including Ames, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Coralville, Davenport and Dubuque.

A Texas Roadhouse spokesperson said the new location will employ about 150 people and is expected to have $1.2 million in annual sales.
