WEST DES MOINES COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT: Senior Debater Animesh Joshi Named Bronx High School of Science Debate Champion

Award

West Des Moines Community School issued the following announcement on Oct. 31.

Valley High School senior Animesh Joshi bested 174 entrants from across the country to become the 2019 Bronx High School of Science debate champion. The Bronx High School of Science debate tournament is one of the most established Lincoln-Douglas debate tournaments in the country, and an octofinal bid to the Tournament of Champions.

The win earned Joshi his second bid to the Tournament of Champions, the most prestigious high school speech and debate competition in the U.S. To qualify, debaters must receive two bids, earned by advancing to late elimination rounds at select individual tournaments. Held annually at the University of Kentucky, the Tournament of Champions provides the most successful debaters from individual tournaments with a chance to compete with each other.

Please join us in congratulating Animesh Joshi, 2019 Bronx High School of Science Debate Champion!
