CITY OF WAUKEE: Firefighters Raise Money to Help Local Cancer Patients

Fundraising event

City of Waukee issued the following announcement on Nov. 1.

On Oct. 31, 2019, members of the Waukee Fire Department donated $471 to Can Do Cancer. Can Do Cancer is a non-profit organization that works to improve and enhance the lives of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Des Moines and surrounding areas. This includes providing meals on chemo days, offering housecleaning and pairing people with previous survivors. The department raised the money by paying to wear pink breast cancer awareness shirts throughout October in lieu of uniform shirts.
