West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 13.
On Monday, November 18th, Mike Holms, Marketing and Communications Director of Jethro’s BBQ and Splash Seafood Bar & Grill, will be honored as the Iowa Restaurant Association’s Legislative Champion. Holms was selected for his unwavering commitment to serve as a vocal and visible advocate for positive change in Iowa’s hospitality industry.
Mike has been highly engaged on a number of key issues of importance to restaurateurs across the state including pushing for wage and tax policies that create a profitable business environment for the hospitality community. He is well known by local officials, state lawmakers, and congressional leaders in Washington DC as an industry advocate who is quick to share data and help those outside the industry understand how proposed laws will impact the food and beverage sectors.
“Over the years we have had many strong voices advocating for the industry, but few have ever been as engaged and impactful as Mike Holms,” says Jessica Dunker, President and CEO of the Iowa Restaurant Association. “His work has saved every operator in the state thousands of dollars.”
