Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Mar. 16
Dear Waukee Community:
We have been running business as Mickey's Irish Pub in Waukee for 13 years and this is a very scary time for both of our residents and our businesses. We have made the sad decision to close down for our beloved St. Patrick's Day Party on Tuesday. As much as this was a difficult decision, we felt we had a moral responsibility to our patrons to be good stewards to both the community and our staff. We believe it would be socially irresponsible to put hundreds of patrons in a small area together at this time. Hopefully better days will come and we will be POSTPONING the party to hopefully a celebratory party when this virus comes to a hault.
In the meantime, we will be open normal hours. We will do our part in keeping the place sanitized, clean and continue with all the health regulations in place to prepare food We will do everything in our power, to get our staff and patrons through this. So, with all that said, there are several ways that you can still patronize your local businesses in order to keep them surviving during these rough days ahead:
1. Purchase TOGO food for your family. If you have to stay inside, maybe you could treat yourselves with TOGO food from your favorite restaurant. If you don't feel comfortable coming in, we will come out to your car.
2. While you are there, purchase a gift card for someone who "needs" this to feed their family. Many people will be out of work or school and may not be able to provide for their family as they would normally.
3. Purchase a gift card for future use, if you are in the financial position to do so. Soon we will get past this and the purchase of gift cards will keep the restaurant afloat and may be the only thing it needs to survive through this.
4. Patron those restaurants that offer delivery. This may be something we add in the near future to get us through this time.
