CITY OF WEST DES MOINES: Important Independence Day Update for WDM Residents

Announcement2

City of West Des Moines issued the following announcement on May 28.

The Independence Day Parade originally planned for Friday, July 3, 2020, in West Des Moines has been cancelled.

A limited fireworks display will occur, weather permitting, on Saturday, July 4, at the City/School Campus near City Hall and the WDM Public Library. Fireworks will NOT be held this year at Raccoon River Park.

The West Des Moines Community Band Concert scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Raccoon River Park, also has been cancelled.

City officials cautioned that all activities and events are being offered at the discretion of the City and are subject to change due to the evolving nature of COVID-19 in our community. If Governor Kim Reynolds or Polk County Health Department officials determine that plans need to change, City events and programs may be cancelled to ensure the safety of employees and patrons.
