CITY OF WEST DES MOINES: Independence Day 2020 activities in West Des Moines

City of West Des Moines issued the following announcement on June 23. 

The July 3 Independence Day Parade in West Des Moines has been cancelled.

A limited version of the Fireworks Display originally scheduled for Raccoon River Park will now be held on Saturday, July 4, at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the City/School Campus by City Hall, 4200 Mills Civic Parkway.

Parking lots on the campus will be open to spectators at 7:30 p.m., and all attendees are urged to follow social distancing guidelines.

For your safety, the use of consumer fireworks in West Des Moines is not allowed at any time. Please leave the fireworks to the professionals.

City Hall and most City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, for the Independence Day holiday. Garbage collection will not be delayed this year for the holiday.

If conditions are favorable, the West Des Moines Public Services Department will be ground fogging for mosquitoes in certain parks prior to the July 4 holiday. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Public Services Department at 222-3480.
