City of Waukee issued the following announcement on Sept. 22.

COVID-19 canceled Spring Clean-Up, but City/ASI garbage customers can put one large item on the curb each week on their typical collection days! There is no fee for furniture pick-up. Bulky items such as boards must be cut to 4 foot lengths, with a 50-lb maximum. Carpets must be cut, rolled and tied. As a courtesy, please notify ASI by calling 515-964-5229 in advance of any large item pick-up, so the driver can make preparations. For appliances, please call ASI at 515-964-5229 to schedule a collection. There is a fee of $35 for each appliance. See a list of items which are and are NOT accepted for FREE on the curb.

The Metro Waste Authority’s Northwest Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off site in Grimes accepts hazardous waste, tires and some appliances. Some items are accepted free of charge, and some have associated fees. See a list of accepted items and fees.
