CITY OF WAUKEE: Waukee Police Giving Back with Holiday Programs

Gift

City of Waukee issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

The Waukee Police Department is gearing up for its holiday giving programs. In November, the department will provide the makings of Thanksgiving meals to 20+ Waukee families through its Thanksgiving Basket Drive. Monetary donations will be used to purchase food items for the holiday baskets from the Waukee Fareway, which will then be delivered prior to Thanksgiving Day.

Police officers also raise money each holiday season to take kids shopping for gifts for themselves and their families with the Shop With a Cop program. Due to COVID-19, the officers will gather wish lists from their identified families in need, then shop for and wrap the families’ gifts, rather than taking kids shopping in-person. The 2020 Shop With a Cop goal is to make the holidays bright for 20 local families.

Cash or check donations can be dropped off* or sent to:

Waukee Police Department

1300 SE L.A. Grant Parkway

Waukee, IA 50263

*To drop off, please stop by the Public Safety Building on a weekday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Thanksgiving Baskets donations will be accepted through Nov. 20, and Shop With a Cop donations will be accepted through Dec. 4. The Waukee PD thanks all those who support making a difference in the Waukee community. Call 515-978-7979  with questions.
