City of Waukee recently issued the following announcement.

Capital Improvement Projects Update - Oct. 16, 2020

The City of Waukee is continually working on public capital improvement projects which address current needs, sustain existing infrastructure and ensure that the City’s services and amenities are ready for continued growth of the Waukee community. Get the latest information about the progress being made on Waukee’s capital improvement projects! 

Note: All project plans are weather permitting. 

Waukee Public Library Stormwater Improvements Project

Crews are continuing to make progress on the Waukee Public Library stormwater improvements. Paving of the new parking lot continued with the installation of permeable pavers this week. All remaining paving is expected to be completed in the next two weeks. Construction of the 13 bioretention cells around the property is expected to begin soon. Crews hope to finish out the project ahead of schedule yet this fall!

Curbside services and returns have shifted to the south side of the building. Returns can be dropped through the dropboxes 24/7. However, oversize items will only be accepted during curbside service hours.

NW 10th Street/NW Sunrise Drive Improvements

Crews have been working hard to pour pavement. NW 10th St. paving is complete from the existing pavement at the south end of the project to NW Stratford Dr. The paving of NW Sunrise Dr. and NW Stratford Dr. west of NW 10th St. is now complete. Crews anticipate completing the southbound lanes of NW 10th St., including turn lanes and opening them to traffic by the end of October, weather permitting.

ADA Sidewalk Improvements

The City's ADA sidewalk improvements are now completed. The goal of the project was to ensure that the City has accessible paths of travel in the public right-of-way for people with disabilities.

Alice Nizzi Park

The installation of custom spaghetti-themed play equipment is now complete. The rubberized play surface is now being installed. The the surface has been installed, crews will work to complete the finishing touches. Although it is tempting to get out and test the new equipment, please stay out of the park until it is officially opened. Glynn Village Park

Playground equipment has now been installed. Crews will now focus on installing drain pipes, concrete and the final rubberized play surface. The final pieces of the project include installation of irrigation and final surface restoration. Although it is tempting to get out and test the new equipment, please stay out of the park until it is officially opened. Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements 

The Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements project is nearing completion. Plantings and decorative signs have been installed in the medians. Crews are wrapping up the final touches over the next week.
