The West Des Moines Public Library will be closed through Wednesday, Nov. 11 as part of planned renovations affecting the first floor of the facility.
During the temporary closure, the children’s collection and other materials from the first floor will be moved to temporary shelving on the second floor, temporary walls will be installed on the first floor for ongoing renovation work, furniture will be placed into temporary storage, and new carpeting will be installed on the first floor and in the elevators, according to a news release from the city.
“I’m sure the public is tired of our having to close for these renovation changeovers,” Darryl Eschete, library director, said in the release. “The timing has been unfortunate with COVID, but there would be no way to get this work done safely with the public coming and going.”
Once the library reopens, most activity will be confined to the second floor as renovations continue, according to the release.
