CITY OF WEST DES MOINES: As cases rise, City officials encourage masks and social distancing

City of West Des Moines issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.

With Beggars’ Night occurring this evening, the City of West Des Moines is reminding residents to always be extra vigilant and follow recommended safety tips to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

City Manager Tom Hadden said following safety protocols is especially important now that cases of the virus are rising in Iowa and across the country.

“It’s important that we not let our guard down,” he said. “Now is the time for everyone to renew our commitment and always wear a mask in public and practice social distancing.”

The West Des Moines City Council passed a resolution last August that encouraged individuals in the City to comply with recommended practices to reduce the spread of the virus. Masks, social distancing and handwashing have proven to be effective measures that limit the spread of the virus.

Hadden also urged parents and children to make sure they are following safety guidelines if they choose to go trick-or-treating.
