The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City West of Des Moines for the 27th year in a row.
The award was presented to the City of West Des Moines in recognition of its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for 2019.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the category of governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to a City of West Des Moines press release.
The achievement denotes a distinguished accomplishment by a government and its management team.
The city was assessed by an unbiased committee to meet the high standards of the program. To be considered, a city must provide a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” when listing its financial story.
Citizens may view the entire list of CAFR accomplishments on the city's website by clicking the link in the Finance Department section.
