Republican Garret Gobble has won the bid for House District 38, defeating Heather Matson who was fighting for re-election.

He wrote the following on his Facebook page on Nov 5.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all those that made our victory yesterday possible. All of you who knocked doors, made phone calls, talked with your neighbors, and put up yard signs, you made the difference! I am so honored to be your next representative. I could not and wouldn’t have wanted to do this without you! Thank you all again! If you have yard signs you’d like me to pick up, please message the page, otherwise, I think they’ll look good again in 2022!” he wrote.

Democrat Matson conceded and wished Gobble well.

“Friends, I’m disappointed by the results last night and would certainly have preferred a different outcome. 159 votes is incredibly close and we'll continue to monitor the results as any outstanding absentee ballots come in. But as of now, it appears that we were not successful in our campaign.

“One thing I have always loved about #HD38 is that it is truly a swing district with a wide variety of opinions and life experiences. My never-ending thanks to all the amazing volunteers who poured their hearts and countless hours into this race. Thank you to everyone who voted and continued to place their trust in me. I am grateful for your support. It’s been a privilege to represent everyone in our district. I wish Garrett Gobble the best over the next two years,” she wrote on Facebook.
