Eddie Andrews wins election bid, Karin Derry concedes loss

Republican Andrews thanked voters, showing his eagerness to assume office.

“Thank you so much everyone!!!!!! I am so ready to go to work for the good people of #Johnston #Grimes #JeffersonTownship and #urbandale,” wrote Andrews on his Facebook page.

Karin Derry who was vying for re-election for the House District 39 seat, conceded on Facebook.

“The results of the 2020 election were certainly not what I'd hoped for, but I am incredibly proud of our campaign. Thanks to all of the volunteers for your countless hours of work! The election outcome can never change what our campaign stood for - working for an Iowa where everyone has the opportunity to lead a great life!

“Special thanks to Jennifer Gardner and to Norene Kelly for serving as campaign treasurer and manager. And thanks to all of my supporters for the honor of being the face of our campaign!

"And thanks, as always, to my family for all of your loving support,” she wrote.
