Incumbent Democrat Kristin Sunde won her bid for the House District 42 seat, and thanked the voters

She posted the following statement on Facebook on Nov 4.

“My deepest thanks to the voters of Iowa House District 42 this evening. I’m honored to earn another term serving you.

“I also want to thank my wonderful family and volunteers for their hard work and loving support.”

Her opponent Republican Aaron Sewell conceded defeat.

“Tomorrow the sun will rise, tomorrow there will be challenges to face still...

I am immensely blessed to have had so many individuals believe in me. Now it wasn't enough to win the opportunity to serve you in the Iowa capitol the next two years but you don't have to be an elected official to serve those around you.

Every door I knocked, every person I called, every letter I wrote, forum I attended, person I met, made this journey worth it,” he wrote on Facebook.
