Rising home prices in Des Moines in the first half of 2021

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2021 in Des Moines rose by $16,750 while total sales increased by 14%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2021, there were 2,445 homes sold, with a median sale price of $159,000 - a 11.8% increase over the $142,250 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 2,144 homes sold in Des Moines in the first half of 2020.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.6% of the median home sale price for the first half of 2021.
