Jon Billups, Lynda Murray and Matthew Rinker are projected to be re-elected to the Burlington City Council, beating out candidates Terry Schnack, Antonio Bailey and Christopher Roepke.

Billups has previously served as mayor of the city. Born in Burlington and a resident since 1976, Billups has volunteered for the Burlington Steamboat Days since 1986.

Murray is currently the city’s mayor pro-tem and decided to run again after being asked to go for a second term by members of the community, the Hawk Eye reports.

She currently serves as a registered dietitian and has a private practice.

Rinker has served as a councilman for the city of Burlington for the past four years. According to the Hawk Eye, he originally ran for council with the motivation to create a better environment for people and businesses in the city.

He has been pushing for more attention to the issue of the overall quality and quantity of housing in the area.

City of Mediapolis

Chuck Massner, Troy Garrison and Miranda Pfeiff are projected to win the three seats on the Mediapolis City Council, beating candidates Monte Hawley and Denise Dietrick.

Massner and Garrison currently serve as members of the council.

City of Middletown

Running uncontested, Jordan Fidler and Stephanie Gerst are set to be council members for the city of Middleton.

City of West Burlington

Also uncontested, John Johnson and Melanie Young will hold the two open seats on the West Burlington City Council.

Originally from Keosauqua, Johnson moved to West Burlington and worked in a factory for 36 years. His children grew up in the area and attended the local school district, according to a report by The Hawk Eye.

Young was appointed to the council in 2021 after a vacancy opened when Al Waterman stepped away, the Hawk Eye states.

Both candidates are set to serve a four-year term.
