Iowa has gotten its season back on track after a couple of tough games with a win over Northwestern by a score of 17-12.

Hawkeyes player Dane Belton spoke about the win.

“Today was a great illustration of the way we practice and a carry over from a great work week. Any time a player is able to get an interception, we’re like ‘Welcome to the club.’ Delton said, according to Hawkeye Sports. "I am so glad Jermari could get the interception and we could welcome him to the club.”

The win was desperately needed by an Iowa Hawkeyes team that started out hot, but lost two conference games recently. That fact was confirmed by coach Kirk Ferentz.

“We needed a win, and the guys did a good job of fighting for it,” Ferentz said, according to Fan Nation.

Iowa's most recent win came on Oct. 9 against Penn State. They went on to drop two essential games against Purdue and Wisconsin.

Going into the game, starting quarterback Spencer Petras had an injury in his right shoulder, which made him struggle early in the game. He was replaced by backup Alex Padilla, who led Iowa to touchdowns in back-to-back possessions and righted the ship.

The Hawkeyes’ win against Northwestern creates a four-way tie for the first place in the Big Ten West against Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin, Hawk Nation reported.
