City of DeSoto issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.
The City of DeSoto has received a very generous gift from a local business owner in the amount of $75,000!
This money has been given in honor of Mayor Butch Ostrander and his wife Betty for their years of exemplary, dedicated service to our community. Many thanks to the Ostrander’s, we cannot be more thankful for them as well as this donation.
The donation was presented with the agreed to understanding that $50,000 would be used towards the preliminary design and engineering fees for a new City Hall Building. This building will also house the City Council Chambers and the Fire Department. The new building will be located on property that the City currently owns south and southwest of the Casey’s store.
The additional $25,000 has been dedicated to the Police Department, Fire Department and the Library in recognition for their service to our community. Gratitude and recognition to the office of City Hall and the Public Works Department for their exceptional work, dedication to the City and their professionalism was also mentioned and appreciated greatly by the donor. He would also like to say thank you to the City Council members for their support to his local business.
Money has been dedicated to each department by the donor’s request:
$15,000 Dedicated to the DeSoto Police Department.
$5,000 Dedicated to the DeSoto Fire Department.
$5,000 Dedicated to the DeSoto Public Library.
