City observes Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday January 17th

City of Des Moines recently issued the following announcement.

The City of Des Moines will observe the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 17, 2022. City buildings will be closed, but the collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be delayed on Monday.While all locations of the Des Moines Public Library will also be closed on Monday, January 17, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will still be held virtually. Jill Wells, the artist behind the mural Future at the Evelyn K. Davis Center, will be giving the presentation at the event.
