Texas Christian University men's basketball team had Iowa State’s number in terms of shutting down the offense Saturday, holding the Cyclones to a season-low point total.
The Horned Frogs won in an upset, 59-44, handing Iowa State just its second home loss of the season.
"Humbling, especially in front of our fans that come out and support us the way they do," first-year Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger said after the game, according to the Des Moines Sun.
The coach of the Horned Frogs praised his team's ability to shut down the Cyclones' offense.
The Cyclones struggled from the field, hitting just 31.6% of its shots. The team was 3 for 26 from beyond the arc.
“Obviously we're excited about how we played defensively,” TCU head Coach Jamie Dixon said after the game.
Izaiah Brockington led Iowa State on offense, scoring 19 points. He was the only Cyclones player in double figures.
On the other side, Damian Baugh led the Horned Frogs with 23 points.
The Horned Frogs led 34-23 at the intermission, and Iowa State charged to a 10-2 run to open the second half, trimming the deficit to 36-33 after Tre Jackson sank one from long range. The momentum sputtered thereafter as TCU scored 10 unanswered.
The Cyclones traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, Jan. 26 to beat the Cowboys.
