The ACLU of Iowa is reaching out to Iowans who are concerned about civil liberties and want to be informed advocates for these issues. This training will prepare you to advocate for housing access for all in the Iowa legislature. This session will focus on Advocating Against Race & Gender Discrimination in Housing: Under current Iowa law, just the filing of an eviction notice becomes permanent public record---even if that eviction is illegal, thrown out, or decided in the tenant's favor. Eviction records disproportionately affect Black women, perpetuating social and economic inequities for people of color. This program will be presented online via Zoom. A participation link will be sent to registered attendees before the program.
