Collection Day for Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Changing to Mondays

Trashhh

Metro Waste Authority oversees collection of garbage, yard waste, and recycling for the City of Windsor Heights.

Metro Waste Authority has managed these programs on behalf of cities for many years. As with all contracts, there is an expiration date and terms must be renewed. Adjustments to collection of garbage, yard waste, and recycling are coming this summer.

What does this mean for you?

New Collection Day

  • Collection for recycling, garbage, and yard waste will be on Mondays, beginning June 27, 2022.
  • Friday, June 24 will be the last Friday pick up with the new pick up day starting the following Monday on the 27th.
Set out by 6 AM

  • New haulers mean new routes, so your cart may be collected at a different time of day. Haulers can collect anytime between 6 AM - 6 PM.
Rates

  • Metro Waste Authority will be updating rates for garbage and recycling services beginning July 1, 2022. The changes will result in a slight decrease from $10.92 for a 96-gallon can to $10.73. Recycling service will increase from $3.27 to $4.32.
