Each year, the City Council considers requests for funding from local non-profit organizations that provide services to benefit the residents of Waukee. This limited funding pool supports services that provide public benefit not already met by City services that align with the mission and goals of the City of Waukee. “Public purpose or public benefit” is defined as an activity that will benefit and is open to the general public, benefits the community, relates to the function of government and does not have the benefit of private interest as its primary objective. Activities that promote public health, safety or general welfare for the benefit of all City residents may be considered as serving a public purpose.
