The beginning of a new year is a great time to take stock and plan, so we’ve compiled a list of things you can do to take full advantage of the services and programming your city government offers.
- Sign up for alerts, so you get the information you need.
- Choose text and/or email notifications for the information you care about, from street closures to city council agendas to general city news.
- Our resident newsletter is returning soon! Sign up here.
- Mark your calendar with these important dates:
- FamilyFest: Saturday, January 21
- Parks & Rec spring and summer programs registration: opens Wednesday, March 1
- First Snacks & Facts and Bingo of 2023: Friday, March 3 at the Waukee Community Center
- Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 8
- Waukee Citywide Garage Sale: Saturday, April 29
- Spring Clean-up week: May 1-5
- Register your pet. Waukee residents are required to license pets annually per City ordinance. Licensing your pet improves the chances of having your animal returned to you should they become lost or run away and helps the City of Waukee ensure that pets are vaccinated.
- Get your Trailside Dog Park annual pass. Day passes are also available.
- Apply for a seasonal job with the City of Waukee. There are many openings for teens and adults of varying experience levels at Sugar Creek golf course, Triumph Park and more.
- Download the new library app to find a new favorite read, view upcoming events or request a curated book bundle.
- Try out the specially engineered sledding hill at Warrior Park (near the water tower) after our next snowfall. Pro tip: pack a thermos of hot chocolate to warm up when you take a break.
- Grab your skates and enjoy our free ice rink in Grant Park when the green open sign is up. Find hours and rules here.
- Sign up for a Parks and Recreation winter program. Choose from a freezer meal prep party, karate, Tumbling Tots, tennis and more for adults and kids of all ages! Spots are also going quickly for Girls Rec Softball, so get your child registered today.
- Follow City pages on your favorite social media platform.
