On Thursday, March 9th at approximately 2:40am, the West Des Moines Police Department was notified of a shooting victim that had been brought into a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim has been identified as a 16-year-old juvenile male, who is presently in critical condition. West Des Moines Police Detectives are engaged in an active investigation with the assistance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Des Moines Police Department. All additional information is being withheld at this time while the investigation is ongoing. The West Des Moines Police Department would like to emphasis there is no ongoing threat to the public. As the investigation continues, additional information will be released when available.
