On Wednesday, May 24 at approximately 6:45 PM, the Ankeny Fire Department was dispatched to 2718 NE Trilein Drive for a house fire. Initial reports called in by a neighbor, were that heavy fire and smoke were coming from the garage of this residence. The incident was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, which dispatched additional resources from Johnston-Grimes, Polk City, Altoona and Bondurant fire departments.

When the Ankeny Fire Department arrived on scene, crews found heavy fire coming from the garage and smoke throughout the residence. Crews immediately began to extinguish the fire and were able to contain the fire very quickly. The homeowner and a family member, who were home at the time of the fire, were able to safely evacuate.  There were no injuries to the homeowners, nor responders and the cause of the fire is under investigation.  No additional information is available at this time.

The Ankeny Fire Department would like to thank the Johnston-Grimes Fire Department, Polk City Fire Department, Altoona Fire Department, Bondurant Fire Department, Ankeny Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Communications and Mid-American Energy for their assistance.
