The City of Ankeny invites the public to an Open House to launch the 2023 Transportation Master Plan (TMP) project on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. The TMP Open House will be held at the Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library,1250 SW District Drive; no formal presentation will be made, and attendees may drop in at any time.

The City of Ankeny’s proactive approach will ensure community needs and values will be represented in any future city infrastructure projects. All community residents and users of Ankeny’s transportation system are encouraged to attend the event, where city officials and members of the planning team will be available to answer questions and gather public feedback.

At the Open House, attendees will be able to:

  • Review existing conditions within Ankeny’s current transportation system
  • Provide feedback, comments or concerns about the existing transportation network
  • Speak with project team members about the future transportation Master Plan
“We invite the community to be part of the planning by attending the Transportation Master Plan Open House. Your insights will help us plan for the future transportation needs in Ankeny,” says Leslie Hart, City of Ankeny traffic engineering manager.

A TMP serves as a tool for planning and managing growth within a transportation system. Recognizing the rapid growth of the community, the City has invested in the development of a TMP to better serve current and future residents, existing and new economic development opportunities, and to guide future public utility expansions. The City has hired JEO Consulting Group (JEO) and Felsburg, Holt, & Ullevig (FHU) Engineering as the private engineering and planning consultants to assist in the development of the plan.
