On Monday, June 19, at 7 a.m., Des Moines Asphalt and Paving will close the eastbound lanes of Westown Parkway from West Lakes Parkway to 50th Street for concrete patching. This closure will last approximately one week, and during this time, the eastbound lanes of Westown Parkway will be closed to all through traffic.

For this closure, access to the businesses along the south side of Westown Parkway from West Lakes Parkway to the I-35 overpass will be maintained. A signed detour will be in place to direct traffic north to West Lakes Parkway, east on University Avenue and then south on 50th Street. See attached map of the closure.

Once the eastbound lanes have been reopened, the westbound lanes of Westown Parkway will be closed to all through traffic so that crews can complete concrete patching.

Once all patching has been completed, Des Moines Asphalt and Paving will fully close both the eastbound and westbound lanes of this stretch of Westown Parkway for asphalt resurfacing. It is anticipated that this work will occur for a couple of days at night and over a weekend, weather permitting. Large electronic message boards will be in place to assist the public with detours.
