It's that time of year again when we celebrate Independence Day!  While it might be a tradition to celebrate with fireworks, private displays are illegal in the city of West Des Moines.  As an alternative, the city would like to invite everyone to their municipal fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4th beginning at (dusk) approximately 9:30pm.  This event will be held at the City/School Campus, located directly behind City Hall- (4200 Mills Civic Parkway.)  City parking lots will open at 7:00pm for all to come and enjoy the display!  For a complete list of the City of West Des Moines Independence Day activities, please visit the city website!

If anyone is disturbed by private fireworks displays in your neighborhood, please contact the West Des Moines Police Department at 515-222-3321.  Anyone caught igniting fireworks in the City of West Des Moines may be subject to a minimum fine amount of $250.00.

Take time to celebrate Independence Day responsibility this July 4th with food, family, and friends.  Please consider joining us for our many community sponsored events July 3rd and 4th! The West Des Moines Police Department wishes everyone a safe and happy Independence Day!
