The University of Iowa volleyball team was recently defeated in their first weekend game against Michigan State by 3-0 1, according to a Hawkeyes press release.
The Hawkeyes' Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 games against Michigan State and Michigan were moved to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena due to unforeseen issues with the court at Xtream Arena, according The Daily Iowan.
"Today's Iowa Volleyball match against Michigan State & tomorrow's match against Michigan have been moved to Carver-Hawkeye Arena," Xtream Arena announced on Twitter. "All tickets purchased for the games will be honored, tickets will be available for purchase at the West entrance and seating will be GA.”
Iowa's defense struggled in all three sets against Spartan freshman Sarah Franklin, who scored twenty points.
“Franklin was very good for them,” Hawkeye head coach Vicki Brown stated, The Daily Iowan reported. “She moves around the floor very effectively. Franklin was used like we use Buzzerio and overall, she found ways to score all over the floor tonight.”
Hannah Clayton led the Hawkeyes in hitting percentage with .533, while Bailey Ortega recorded 20 assists and the team hit .209 as a whole, according to the release.
This is the Hawkeyes' fifth defeat in a row and, as of Oct. 2, the team is 0-3 in the Big Ten Conference, The Daily Iowan reported.
