The Waukee School Board elected to continue using the hybrid education model as positivity rates for Dallas County have risen above 10%.
Waukee County called a special meeting to make the decision. The board used metrics from Waukee, Clive, Urbandale and West Des Moines zip codes which directly impact the district itself as opposed to the whole of Dallas County, as reported by We Are Iowa.
The district’s priorities are to keep kids safe and retain in-person learning for all who require it, in that order, as reported by We Are Iowa.
Waukee Community School District is reporting 35 students and staff members who currently have COVID-19. Dallas County Public Health recommended 148 others remain quarantined.
In total, 88 in-person learning students and 36 staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus since the beginning of the school year. Two out of the 88 student cases were traced back to the school, according to the board, as reported by We Are Iowa. The board reported that those students were wearing masks.
