U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took a pitstop in swing-state Iowa to help support a Republican candidate at her campaign kickoff as she hopes to flip the congressional seat for the state.
Cruz won the Iowa Caucus in 2016 and went back to the state to support Nicole Hasso, a Republican candidate running for Congress in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, KCCI reported.
“ON STAGE: Iowa Caucus Champion Senator Ted Cruz just took the stage at #AshleysBBQBash!” U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) said in an Aug. 28 tweet.
Cruz stated that a Republican “revival” is coming in Iowa, and it’s a key step on the road to win back a Republican majority in the House and Senate, KCCI reported.
"The road to the majority runs through the state of Iowa," Cruz said, according to KCCI.
Cruz did not explicitly mention his plans for the 2024 elections, but he did emphasize many Republican issues of interest, according to Iowa Capital Dispatch.
There were approximately 150 attendees at the campaign event that sat in lawn chairs at a house in Johnston, Iowa, Iowa Capital Dispatch reported.
Cruz spent the entire weekend in the state and spoke of the Afghanistan withdrawal, closing the Southern border and a GOP win in 2022, according to Iowa Capital Dispatch.
